“A good person who has Christian faith.” This is what people used to call me, for I was committed to one church, attending it every single Sunday with my family for over 20 years. Since I had been taught that Jesus would lead my life to the right path as long as I believed in Him, I was confident that I had a deep faith in God and that I had a lot of knowledge about the Bible.
I came to learn about the Church of God when I moved to Chicago for my internship. As I was walking home, I met a member of the Church of God. When I told him that I already attended a church, he asked me if I had heard about the Root of David and the Seal of God. His question immediately gained my interest because I had never heard of either subject before, even though I had been going to church all my life. We made an appointment to meet again and began to study the Bible together.
While studying the Bible at the Church of God, I felt refreshed and it was as if I was drinking cool water after being thirsty for a long time. I could clearly understand the Sabbath, the Passover, various prophecies and their fulfillments in the Bible; however, it was not easy for me to accept God’s word about God the Mother. I had once thought, ‘Just as everyone has a father and a mother, shouldn’t there also be God the Mother, just as we have God the Father?’ Yet, I could not shake off my doubt, ‘If God the Mother really exists, why wouldn’t I have known the truth about Her sooner?’
It was through the words of the Bible that I became fully convinced of the existence of God the Mother. I learned that the matter of deciding Abraham’s heir was a prophecy that shows who will be God’s heirs, and that just as Isaac, who was the son of the free woman Sarah, inherited Abraham’s estate, the children of God the Mother can inherit the kingdom of heaven. This truth was crystal clear. The reason why God the Mother had not been revealed until this age was also hidden in the parable of the heavenly wedding banquet.
When I heard about Christ Ahnsahnghong for the first time, I was in complete shock. I had heard of the second coming of Christ in my previous church, but I had never imagined that He had already come in this age. The more I studied the Bible, the more I was in awe at the fact that there were so many prophecies that Second Coming Christ would fulfill in the Bible, and that Christ Ahnsahnghong has fulfilled all of those prophecies.
Naturally, it was not easy for me to fully believe in my heart from the beginning of my studies that God had come again in the flesh. Nevertheless, I was able to continue attending the Church of God because all of the teachings were found in the Bible. I initially continued to study the Bible because I could not deny the teachings about Christ Ahnsahnghong since they are 100% in the Bible, not because I believed in Him 100%. Every time I learned a new prophecy of the Bible, it came to a conclusion that was certain and marvelous, just as a soap opera leads to the conclusion after a series of episodes. Realizing that the prophecies about the time and place of the second coming of Christ can never be fulfilled unless God comes in the flesh, I became convinced that Christ Ahnsahnghong is God.
Most people around me were against my decision to attend the Church of God when they found out. This was mainly because they had a fixed idea that the second coming of Christ would take place on Judgment Day. They had never heard that God would come again as a man in this age. The more they disapproved of my decision, the more I tried to judge the situation by the Bible, which is the only way to recognize Christ. Two thousand years ago, the Jews regarded the apostles of the early Church as heretics because they believed in Jesus; yet, that never changed the fact that Jesus was the Christ testified in the Bible. The same exact situation is being repeated in this age. I realized that the Church of God is the true church that follows the Bible.
Now, many years have passed since I initially joined the Church of God, and I am still living a happy life of faith. When I first visited the Church of God, I remember seeing a commemorative photo of the members that was taken on the Passover and saying, “There appears to be so many people of different ethnic backgrounds in your church.” The Church of God welcomes people of all races. I used to only spend time with people who physically looked the same as me in my former church, which consisted of predominantly black members; however, I naturally got along well with people of various races in the Church of God. Through the members, I learn different cultures, foods, and even languages, which broaden my cultural perspectives and deepen my thoughts. I realized that the gospel of Jesus is for all people, not just for black people or white people or those of Hispanic descent.
If you are struggling to believe in Christ Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother, I’d like to encourage you to first examine what it is that you are doubting, and what the specific reason is that you hesitate to believe. Is it because you have never heard of God the Mother? Is it because the Church of God is different from most other churches? Try to take a closer look at the questions in your heart and find specific answers to those questions through the Bible.
It is natural to have questions and doubts at first, but what is important is how to solve them. The only solution is to study the Bible. I also had many questions and doubts, but whenever I had them, I quickly found the answers through the Bible. If you come to the Church of God and learn the prophecies of the Bible in-person like I did, all your worries and doubts will disappear, and you will have correct faith and confidence to realize God. I also hope that you will be able to have conviction in the fact that you will go to heaven when you believe in God the Mother.
